My name is Paulien Bakker, and I\u2019m the founder of Schrijfkracht (Writing Power). With a background in Journalism and Psychology, I\u2019ve specialized in storytelling, cultural differences and mental resilience.<\/p><p>I come from a Dutch reformed family with a lot of thinking in black and white. From an early age, I went looking for the emotional layer underneath so I could see the world in full color.<\/p><p>I have over 25 years of experience in Journalism, including 5 years as a staff writer for IntermediairPW. As a freelance journalist I also wrote for (among others) the Volkskrant, Vrij Nederland, NRC, Flow magazine and the American Narratively and Al Jazeera English. I also developed several commissioned magazines.<\/p><p>For the past 7 years, I have enjoyed coaching writers and photographers to find the emotional heart of their story. Before becoming a story coach, I was a founding member and was 5 years the director of the Stichting Verhalende Journalistiek (the Initiative for Narrative Journalism in the Netherlands).<\/p><p>I am also the author of two well-received literary nonfiction books. In total, I have worked in some 18 countries, either as a journalist or as a trainer.
